Canon 20-35mm L 2.8?

I have been out of taking pictures for quite some time, but am looking to get back in with a used 20d from KEH.com(will take advice on this as well) for my birthday. I know its old but I believe it to be an amazing durable reliable camera still, but I will hear anyone out.

I'm looking for a wide to short lens, and since this camera will have the 1.5 multiplier I need something pretty wide. I like the price of a used 20-35mm 2.8 but I will take any and all suggestions. I know I want a 2.8 and the ability to be wide to around 50mm or so. But as far as a specific lens this is the best I could come up with for the money. I prefer to get it from KEH rather than ebay as well. Please offer any and all advice. This will be my primary and sole lens probably for quite some time since I will be returning to graduate school soon.
