Hickory Motor Speedway Photography Workshop

Technical comparisons of the new digital camera offerings by both Nikon and Canon, as well as insight on selecting photographs for publication are among the new topics to be included in the David Allio Motorsports Photography Workshop scheduled for April 4-5, 2008, at the Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, North Carolina. There are also significant enhancements to the personal photo marketing information.

"The workshop contains a solid foundation of technical and marketing information," Allio said. "Now within the past few months, especially with the release and update of the Nikon and Canon cameras, a new wave of information has become available and will be included in future workshop programs. Most of this updated material comes from first-hand experience and includes practical comparisons of the newly released equipment. Our already full two-day program just grew."

Workshop instructor, David Allio has been a working professional motorsports photographer since 1974. He is a member of both Canon and Nikon Professional Services. During his 33-year award-winning career, Allio photographs have appeared in the pages and on the cover of nearly every sports publication in the world. In March, 2008, his photograph of race winner Carl Edwards led the Sports Illustrated coverage of the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Recent publication credits outside of the mainstream motorsports media also include ESPN Magazine, The Sporting News, and USA Today, and the book "ESPN Ultimate NASCAR 100 Defining Moments in Stock Car Racing History."

Each two-day motorsports photography workshop program includes technical instruction in actual trackside racing environments, plus valuable information regarding copyright, image licensing and sales, professional conduct, getting published, and marketing. The goal of each program is to allow participants learn more to earn more.
