I've been using my wife's 350D and she now tells me to get my own camera. :-)
5D or 40D?
I have find some good places about 5D video reviews: http://www.infoborder.com/Digital_Cameras/Video/CanonEOS5D.php
and 40D video reviews: http://www.infoborder.com/Digital_Cameras/Video/CanonEOS40D.php
but I can't decide which one to buy!

From my prefrences below what advice would users give, especially those who have used both?
40D +: higher fps, updated autofocus, lower price
5D +: higher IQ, better low light

My kids are out of sports so the higher fps and reach onto the field is now less important than it was; will more likely shoot travel, street, wildlife, and some sports. Better autofocus would always be very welcome but I wasn't hearing that the 5D has a problem. Been studying Equivalence and benefits of the larger sensor and am intreged by the lower light and bokeh benefits of the 5D.
I won't be using the price difference to buy lenses so as long as we aren't in the 1D $'s range price isn't a major consideration. Not really waiting for 5D II since I'm expecting it's price will be significantly higher than the current street 5D price.
Current lenses: 35L/1.4, 85/1.8, 200L/2.8

Thanks!

The full-size sensor in the 5D would be a major bonus. I have a 20D and would love this feature!

The 5D has been out a while so i will wait for 5D2 as i can continue happily with my 20d. Judging by the lenses you have you are serious about your photography so the sensor size may be a major consideration in your choice. I have not heard about the autofocus reports on the 5d but if they are true then you might get annoyed with it... particularly in sports and wildlife photography... why not wait for the 5d2 and save some more money... any idea when the 5D gets a facelift anyone?
