I'm looking to find a lens for the following types of shots.
My main shooting will be:
Portraits
Business Expos
Product Shots
If looked into the following lenses:
Canon EF100 f/2.8 Macro USM
Sigma macro 105mm F2.8 EX DG
I'm looking to spend around $500.00 to $800.00 for a lens.
If there are other lenses that might be of interest, please let me know what those are and why you would recommend those. |

Hi,
The Canon 100mm macro is considered to be a very good lens. I own the 60mm version (but the 100mm is comparable, if not better).
You'll get f/2.8 from this lens which will help with the portraits.
You'll get the ability to go to 1:1 macro, which will help with small products.
My main concern for you would be business expos, or indoor portraits. A 100mm lens will probably be too long for these situations. Without knowing what other lenses you have available, I would suggest that for the above reason, the 100mm lens is not suitable for all of the applications you suggest.

(I have no experience with the Sigma lens, but hear its quite good. Most of the comments above would apply to the Sigma, I believe). |
