Hey everyone..
I was wondering if anybody can recommend a book or link to a site which gives full explanations on the different types of lenses.
I'm SO confused about all of it..autofocus, prime, zooms, manual...I don't get any of it.
Thanks!! |

I would suggest getting John Hedgecoe's book "The Manual of Photography". There are several versions out, I think the latest is "The New Manual of Photography".
Any of them are good. I'm sure you could pick up a used copy of an older one on Amazon for cheap. It doesn't matter as all the concepts are the same regardless of whether your using digital or film. An excellent book that covers all concepts of photography in short easy to understand sections of 2-3 pages. Lots of examples and photos help explain the main points so you can understand them.
Others will have their favorites but this is one book I keep in my reference library. |

Before you go put money into any books, I'd suggest simply reading through older forum posts. Don't get me wrong, Hedgecoe's books are excellent reading; you'll just be able to get quicker answers by reading what other people have written. Your questions have been asked several times before, and answered quite well in previous posts. Give it some time and you should be able to find quite a bit. |
