After using the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens that came with my Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel for several years I think it is time to upgrade. I already have a EF 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM so I'm looking for some thing in the 18 to 100mm range.
After doing some reading here are the two choices I have narrowed it down to:
EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM
or
EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM
I'm leaning towards the L glass, anyone have any thoughts? |

You may even want to consider the fixed 50mm f1.8 lens which is inexpensive, but very good quality. |

I have found my 24-105 to be a very important lens for me. It is on my camera most of the time. I also own a EF-S 17-55 lens that I do use but only for low-light work.
If the majority of your photography would tend to need a faster lens then start with the 17-55 otherwise get the 24-105. |
