I bought a Fuji S7000 digital camera 4 years ago in November. I loved this camera. It quit taking pictures in September and lucky for me I bought the 4 year service plan through Best Buy. I took the camera in for repairs September 22 and since then the Geek Squad status has said "repair in progress".
Finally after phoning them twice they have told me that the camera cannot be repaired and that I can come pick out a new camera with a $699 plus tax credit towards a new camera.
Unfortunately the Fuji is no longer an option so now I have to choose a new camera.
So far I have my eye on the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi 10.1 MP digital SLR. It is $799 so I will have to come out of pocket $100. I am just looking for advice. Is this a good camera? Comparable to the Fuji? Or is there maybe a better camera in this price range at Best Buy that I have completely overlooked?
Any help and/or advice would be appreciated. |

Wow. Thanks for all the comments. After taking into careful consideration everyone's advice and opinions I went ahead and picked up my new Canon XTi today.
Biggest downside I have seen in this camera so far is the fact that the image you are taking a photo of doesn't appear on the LCD display until after you snap the picture. You must put the camera up to your face to look through the little view finder. Other than that it is a great camera (so far). |
