http://www.cs.mtu.edu/~shene/DigiCam/User-Guide/995/EXPOSURE/EV-compensation.html
On this page, near the bottom, there is a set of three pictures, a beach scene with some trees.
The last pic looks great, but in this composition, is there any way at all to preserve the sky in the first pic AND the correct exposure of the trees in the second?? |

You could make multi-exposures (e.g.:-1, 0, +1 EC) and combine them as a High Dynamic Range image (HDR) which is probably the best way to capture such an image.
But if you were shooting RAW and only made one exposure with +1/2 stop EC, you could process your image twice, once for highlights and once for shadows. With RAW's processing latitude of +/- 1 stop (or more in some sitituations) you could make an acceptable final image.

So with the raw processing, i end up with TWO images, one proc for highlights, and one for shadows?
Then how do i go about combining those two? |
