My Nikon Coolpix L6 has died after 9 months of working just fine. I'm just wondering if anyone has an idea of what happened or what I did wrong.
I connected my camera with a USB cable to a computer to load images off the SD card. When I turned on the camera, the lens elongated, as usual, but I heard a horrid buzzing and nothing appeared on the computer. I tried to turn off the camera~it didn't respond. I disconnected the cable. When I took out the batteries the buzzing immediately stopped. I put in another pair of Energizer Lithium AAs and as soon as they were in place the buzzing resumed. The lens never retracted. Also, I have noticed a white, smooth, flat, dry residue on the lens cover and surrounding area.
I dropped it twice, 4 weeks before it died, but it seemed to be fine. The batteries used don't seem to be defective or damaged. (They were new and I had used the camera for a few days before this happened.)
Any ideas will be very appreciated!
