Hello,
Is it worthwhile to purchase a circular polarizer filter for telephoto lenses (the particular lens in question for me is the Canon 70-200 f/4L)? I realize the usefulness of the polarizer on a wide-angle lens, but is it a good idea to have one for my telephoto as well?
What about a neutral density filter for a telephoto lens? A good idea or one that will not be used often enough to warrant the purchase?
Thanks for any information you can provide. |

It depends what you are going to be taking pictures of. I have used all my filters on all of my lenses. I guess you have diferent filter sizes across your lenses, in which case it might be worth taking a look at one of the square filter systems (cokin, lee). These will allow you to use the same sets of filters across all your lenses just by buying diferent adaptor rings for the ends of the lenses. |

You should choose the filters you buy and use based on the photos you want to take - not the lens they are on. |
