Hello,
I have been wanting to buy a new camera for a long time. I really wanted to have a camera that I can use to take pictures of lightning, fireworks, and things like meteors. I don't really know much about photography. I'm still learning, and it's not coming to easy to me lol. I've been reading up on taking pictures of meteors since there are going to be some tonight and I found this article about it:
http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/astronomy/leonids_photographing.html
So I was wondering if the Canon Rebel K2 or 2T would work for these kind of pictures? I found out that those cameras are SLR, but I don't know if they have the other requirements that are needed for those types of pictures. Any other help or tips and whatever else you could tell me, would be soooo appreciated.
Thanks,
Stacey |

Sorry about the double post. I didn't think it posted the first time. One of the posts can be deleted if need be. |

Alot of Fireworks and other night photography involves long exposures with the "bulb" setting.....and with the amount of "digital noise" in low light digital cameras still, I would recommend a film camera...and moreover a medium format film camera. You can pick up the Mamiya RB67 (6x7cm format - 120/220 film) or the Bronica ETRS (6x4.5cm format - 120/220 film) for real cheap now.....and the larger film size will give you greater resolution in your images and the ability to make larger prints with finer detail. Both of these cameras have a "mirror up" feature, that allows you to close the mirror before triggering the shutter...thus reducing any camera blur from the mirror flapping up and down.
www.KEH.com is an excellent source for great equipment at a great price. Even their "bargain" grade stuff is quite nice. |

Thanks so much for the info! I'll have to look into those cameras.
