This weekend I am heading to a local lake to shoot a group of wakeboarders. They are looking for a mix of shots. My question is what is the best way to shoot fast action like this. They want pictures that show them cutting through the water where you can see every drop being kicked up. I would assume very fast shutter speeds on this, but am curious to find any tricks of the trade when it comes to this type of photography. Any other pointers or advice would also be greatly appreciated. |

I have never shot wakeboarders, but I have done alot of action stuff with surfing and MotoX with my D50. Use the slowest shutter speed you can while still stopping the action. You get the best results when manual focusing, but it can be hard when the action is so fast, so auto focus well usually have to do. Take lots of shots and make sure to take some of the take off and landings.
I hope this helps. Good luck and have fun. |
