I have a question for you folks in regards to cleaning sticky buttons on my e500. I recently accidently spilled a small amount of beer on my playback and delete buttons, and now they are sticking a bit. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to clean them? maybe apply a small amount of alcohol (not the drinking variety!) with a q-tip or something? any suggestions could help! thanks! |

I don't know your background so I say the next section with extreme caution.
I am by trade an Avionics engineer (now a Computer Consultant) and have done some pretty technically dangerous things in my time.
I have had to deal with a similar problem but it was not a camera.
I used a aerosol spray of anti-static cleaner from RS Components.
Hold the item with the sticky buttons downward. Spray upward, enough to wet the area. operate the affected buttons a few times, repeat spray, repeat operation. dry off with lint free cloth all the time holding the equipment with the buttons facing downward.
Whatever you use it must be safe for the equipment you are cleaning. it needs to be sprayed as it has to get where the sticky is, it has to be volatile, so it disperses.
Most important THE EQUIPMENT MUST HAVE THE AFFECTED AREA POINTING DOWNWARD AT ALL TIMES. otherwise the problem gets worse not better. |
