Hi all!
It's been awhile since i've been on PT, but i'm still out there taking photos and recently purchased myself a macro lens and just learning about filters (cokin)

I have a question about unauthorized use of ones photo on the internet?

I took a photo of the moon back in Oct 06 and cropped it and pasted it on my facebook page. Well today i see a thumbnail pic on my daughters friends page that looks quite abit like mine. I've tried to use Opanda Powerexif to see if it is mine but i get no info. Is there anyway to find out if this is mine or not without having to get my daughter to ask?
Thanks everyone

Debbie

Edit: These are the 2 photos
Mine

Unfortunately, the moon looks pretty much the same, no matter who took the shot. The thumbnail is rotated somewhat clockwise from your shot. Then again, your shot is rotated somewhat clockwise from my shot: http://www.phototakers.com/forum/ftopic65796.html?highlight=moon

See? They pretty much *all* look the same, aside from rotation and color, and maybe resolution. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks Sigma147

Nice shot you took there of the moon. I guess anyone in North America who looks at the moon would have the same view of it....=)

Debbie,

Back atcha WRT your moon photo - nice job.

Basically, anyone on planet earth will see the same view of the moon, with rotational differences depending on their latitude, provided the sky is clear. My guess is that it's a different photo, though. Too much trouble to rotate is a couple of degrees when there are so many moon photos out there (Google Image search returns over 13.5 million hits)...

hmm, you'll find this is quite common, considering the moon is the same moon no-matter who shoots it! Although nice pics folks!

Hi Debbie!

There is a method to check wheter is this photo yours or not, but you have to be expert in photoshop.
So you have to open both pictures(picture in your site and picture from your daughters friends page), than zoom it and check resolutions. Try to find differences in sharpen parts! Check the size of the pictures! Check the brightness of the pictures.
If you find more differences between this two pictures, than the pictures are probably taken with difference machines!
