I'm going to be buying my first DSLR in the next couple of weeks
(to many missed shots..) Any hints and or tips concerning using or buying a teleconvertor.. I'm looking the D40 or D40x with the 2 lens kits... |

Teleconverters and zoom lenses are not a match made in heaven. Choose nothing with a magnification factor of more than 1.5X. |

Surprised you say that. the Nikon TC 2.0E II is specifically made for the pro lenses, which include the two zooms 70-200mm f2.8 VR and the 200-400mm f/4G ED-IF AF-S VR.
Granted it will not work with 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D ED VR AF as it physically will not fit. and although it fits the 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G AF-S VR it will not Auto-focus.
Reesedw. Remember that the D40(x) does not have a focus motor so be sure that any lens you buy has a motor, Nikon look foe SWM, Sigma look for HSM. |
