Hey guys,
I currently own two AlienBees units that i have yet to use. I want to start shooting weddings. So what equipment do i need to shoot a wedding that doesnt have access to power? I assume some type of battery pack correct?
Thank you. |

With the AlienBees, you will want the strongest ones they make (800's, I think) and you will need to plug those in to an outlet, or expect to get very few shots beofre a battery pack can no longer recharge them fast enough. One (or two) of those and a "handle flash" for the camera are all you really need. I like the SunPak and Metz ones....and I carry plenty of batteries along rather than wearing a "quantum" pack....I've used them in the past, but sometimes just feel they are too bulky for using in a wedding. I usually rely on my camera's flash to trigger the strobes, but some folks I know use an RF transmitter system....this uses a readio signal rather than the traditional "flash of light" to trigger the strobes, so other guest don't zap your strobes with their plastic trash can cameras....
Oh....and work on your Karma and appeasing the "Murphy God." Always helps..... |

i have (2) Canon 580EX flash units, im guessing that would do the trick? So the AlienBees units are more for a studio type application? |
