We are shooting a wedding tomorrow at 1:00 outdoors with a lake 3 feet away. I'm concerned that with a fill in flash to counter hard shadows we are going to have a lot of blown out images off the water and her white dress.

Does anyone have any tips that might help get the light and color under control?

TIA

Wow, IMO you've chosen the wrong place and time.

3 feet away from a lake? Is this a deck or a small path? Also, 1:00PM is not the best time to shoot outdoors, but I've seen it done.

I would recommend you shoot with the sun to their backs and fill in there, using some diffused light. Definitely shoot in RAW. If there is no compensation as to what to meter for, then underexpose for the dress so you can bring it out later. Sorry, can't help much. Good luck, and post some pics.
