Does Nikon make a battery pack/grip for the D50? Will the D80 grip fit? Does anybody know?

Thanks!

Third party grips have limited function compared to OEM. If Nikon wanted the D50 and the D70 to have a grip they would have made one. I guess the word is use at your own risk.

There is a D50 grip with shutter release but it is a botched IR remote which doesn't operate as a true shutter release and apparently has reliability problems. Personally I would give them a miss and invest in a couple of spare batteries, keep them charged and carry in your camera bag.

Part of the attraction of the D50 was it's compact size and light weight, why undo that with a shoddy grip?

and if you were meant to have shoes you'd have been born with them?

the guy asked about a grip.............aftermarket is the only option.........his decision.

You are absolutely right, I just wanted to point out that the after-market ones have limitations as opposed to oem. I stand by my statement though, if Nikon wanted those bodies to have grips they would have made them.

As I know Konica has a very good battery which a couple of people use for Nikon D50.

I have a D50 with this battery grip:
http://www.digital-cameras.com/xpp-nikon_d50_battery_grip_hahnel_hn_d50__2168.html (although it didn't cost that much).

Good points:
1. Makes the camera a little more chunky and comfortable to hold.
2. You can put normal rechargeable batteries in the reserve battery holder
3. Makes people think you have D2H (only kidding).

Bad Points:
1. The two batteries tend to report to the camera that they are running low on power output, but when you take the grip off and put any one of the batteries into the normal slot, they are full power. This does get annoying sometimes.
