I am a beginner photographer. I use the term photographer loosely. I take a lot of photographs. I have been viewing the amazing photographs on this site for several months now and have become inspired to improve my skills. I plan to start posting a few of my photos in hopes of some constructive criticism.
I have a question concerning how far Photoshop should be used on photographs posted here. I take my best shot and then fix what I can with Photoshop. Should I post the original with just a few basics done to the picture or should I post my final result?
Thanks for any comments. |

Hi rebeene! Welcome to the forums.
I usually take the view to submit images that are of the best of my ability. Then let the folks tear em up!
Do what you think needs to be done to the image to make it the best you can, then post it.
I see lots of images on here that are really nice, but simple things like a levels or color adjustment aren't done. And what do the comments consist of?
'.... adjust color'
'...needs levels corrected'
'...I agree fix levels and you've got a winner!'
'...would like to see color tweaked, facial blemishes corrected, oh and clone out debris in background.'
etc, etc.
Looking forward to your submissions.

Thanks for the welcome.
I have a question of when to post in the Photo Critiques area and when to post in other areas. I notice C&C requests in all the forums.
I am a beginner so I want any comments and criticism that anyone cares to make. Should I use the Photo Critiques forum for my primary area?
Thanks again, I really am enjoying this site and feel I am learning a lot.

Ron, I'm a little confused about that myself? I mostly just keep an eye on & post my photos in the specific forums that interest me most i.e Macro & Nature/Wildlife?
I'm a relative newbie so I'm not 100% sure on that one?
Glad you're enjoying the site. |
