I'll be leading a photo tour to Ladakh in July 2007.

La-Dags (Ladakh) - "land of the high mountain passes" - is India's most remote and sparsely populated regions, and is one of the last enclaves of Tibetan Mahayana Buddhism. Bordering Tibet on the west, and at an average altitude of 15000 feet above sea level, Ladakh is primararily a high altitude desert cradled by the Karakoram and Great Himalayan ranges.

Cut off by heavy snow for almost 9 months in the year, Ladakh is accessable during a three month period during summer when the snows begin to melt. Visitors during this period encounter a fascinating barren and breathless land that offers a window on a unique Himalayan landscape and culture.

With a focus on landscapes, medieval towns, monasteries, festivals, ancient cultures, and people photography, the tour is designed to enable you to travel back in time and return with evocative travel photos of what may just be "The Last Shangri-La."
