Hi, I am taking photos of a wedding on the beach at 2:30 in the afternoon..Bright Sun usually ( overcast, if we're lucky)
Do I need to use the flash ( I have Nikon D70 with Sb800 flash)- do I use something to hide the sun? what's best in situation like this?
Thanks for any help |

A screen for the sun would be useful, but probably not practical. At any rate, it would through a noticeable shadow on the ground.
A fill flash will definitely help reduce any harsh shadows caused by the direct sun. It would also be helpful in a back-lit situation (you can't often control the relation of the best background to the angle of the sun in an outdoor shoot).

yes use a flash. use the ttl feature if you can.
use a little defusion if you can.
if you have an assistant or a c-stand get some thing to reduce that bright sunlight like a nice scrim or opal disk. this works for head shots and 3/4 shots but in the shots that you can see theirs feet and the sand defusing the sun will not work because as the person that posted before me said it will make an awkward shadow on the sand. |
