Im using a Pentax and I cannot go any lower than ISO 200. The settings are 200, 400, 800, 1600, and 3200. Just curious as to why Pentax does not offer a 100 setting. It seems to me that there would not be much difference with 100 or 200 as far as noise is concerned so they just threw out the 100. If someone could chime in.... |

In the Pentax range only the K10D can go down to ISO100. To get long exposures on a bright day you will need an ND filter, other than that I never found it to be a problem with my *istDL2 since the noise is already pretty non-existent at ISO200.
I was told that the sensor in the *ist and K1x0 series has a native sensitivity of ISO200. To get lower than that they would have had to use an attenuator in the circuit, which would actually have made noise at 100 worse than 200 and would have had an impact on dynamic range. As it is the DR on these cameras is slightly better at 400 than 200. |
