I con not help but notice on the "For Sale" parts of the forums that there usually is not much Oly gear for sale. I have often wondered if that was not because Olympus users are satisfied with their equipment once it is purchased. I am still using and happy with my old E-1. I am interested in what Oly will come out with for a replacement for it but will be in no hurry to purchase that replacement. IS is expected from Oly in 2007 but is something I do not have to have.
I just found this and it is a quote from the wrotniak site news -
"On the Olympus note, again: did you know that last year Olympus had the highest owner satisfaction level for cameras above $600, according to J.D. Power and Associates, the major source of such information. (It took John Foster to point this out in the September issue of Quest.) Cameras above $600? This may mean only SLRs, and this, in turn, clearly points at the E-500." |

I am VERY pleased with mine. In the year I have had it I have never had a problem with it and it has gone into some pretty unhospitiable places and never had a dust issue. A good friend who never ventures with his camera much further than 20 feet from his studio has had to have his sensor cleaned three times in the same about of time.
It consistently takes good pictures and is now making me long for something a bit nicer. However since I now have an investment in lenses (kit + 45-150) and flashes (FL-36 and recently FL-50) I am going to wait for the new Olympus body (E-3?) |

I have an E-20N and an IS-20 (film) and have been very pleased with both. I'm considering the E-Volt 500 but at this point in time I can't justify spending the money. If I could I'd get it. My daughter is using her E-500 for weddings and child portraiture and is very pleased with the camera. |

I have used the E-10, E-1, E-300 and E-500 all. Weather Sealed on E-1 is a must in the conditions I shoot so it is the one I have as my main Body(s). The E-500 and two lense kit is probably the one of the best deals if not the best deal for the money on the market.
Justifying spending the money is not something I advise. ;-) Do it for fun. |
