I just found this forum a little while ago and think i have got my first worthy shot for one of the assignments.

I wanted to do the assignments in order but this one jumped right out at me and i just had to do it first. :P

I was having a hard time with lighting on him to keep texture in both the black and whites.

This is very nice, was this done in a studio or with similar make shift setup?
I'd take heed of Packard’s reply, you'll only grow in skill if you do.

This was actually taken outside on one of my many excuses to get away from the holiday house with the dog. Each walk i would set him up for a few shots and keep trying. I like the way the wind caught his ear in this one. Thx for the comments.

So the blue background is sky? That's effectively done if it is.

Yea, the blue background is the sky. It was the northern sky and i was quite a bit below him. I did lighten the whole shot up a bit but didn't touch anything else. Thx for the comments, i appreciate any input.

Nice shot.

As a rule if you shoot upwards at dogs or cats they seem more intimidating. Shoot downward at them and they seem more friendly.

I also like to remove collars before shooting. I find them a distraction.

I realize that the sky is the actual color but it is so blue that it is a distraction; you might want to tone it down a bit.

Nice job.
