When I first used my E500 I had the AF confirmation spot displayed in the viewfinder. However, it seems to have disappeared, and try as I may, I cannot get it back. Any ideas, please?

What are you referring to as the missing AF confirmation mark?

Thanks, Kim. I mean the spot which appears in the viewfinder when the shutter release is depressed half way. Mentioned in Section 5, page 71 of the so-called Advanced Manual CD.

that happened to me for once or twice. i had to turn the camera off and on and reset it. Also, try taking off the lens and trying a different lens.

I don't have the E-500 any more or the manual.
I think you can turn the sound off for focus but don't know that you can turn the AF Marker off.

I would try removing and attaching the lense as there may be a problem with contact there.

Also try removing and leaving you battery out over night.

Sorry I can not be of more help. I will ask some folks I know that shoot 500 now if they have had this problem or heard of it. If I hear something I will get back to you.

Make sure Autofocus is turned on, that is any mode except MF.

Thank you, everyone, for your help. Removing the lens and replacing it cured the problem. :)
