I am just becoming familiar with my camera, and I love it, but one thing I do find annoying is the Auto Power-off facility. Why 4 hours? I have run my battery totally flat a couple of times because I forgot to switch off the camera. Surely, an hour would have sufficed? Nobody in their right mind would want to knowingly keep the camera switched on without using it for 4 hours. Is there any way of reducing this 4 hour period? I can't see any other options in the manual.

I am sure there is a way to change the power off time as well as "sleep time".

It has been a while since I had the E-500 and I do not have the manual, but you can change it in the menu I am sure. I remember I had mine set to sleep at 1 min.

Sorry for not being more help. Look in manual for "sleep time" and see if you find it there.

Thanks for the reply, Kim. I have just checked, and the sleep mode is set for 1 minute. However, it still apparently consumes power in this mode, albeit only a small amount. There is one other aspect which I had not taken into consideration, and that is the fact that the batteries (I have a spare) are new and have probably not reached their full potential. I can only see the 4 hour option on the Power-off menu, by the way. I can't think of a situation where I would want to leave the camera on for this length of time without using it. I'll just have to ensure I switch off when I have finished, but this can be a source of worry, as I am constantly checking, just in case I didn't!

The power off function is either Off or for 4Hrs and can't be altered, you can alter the sleep time from 1 minute tho

Thanks for the input, Keith. I think I've become accustomed to switching off when I am finished. Plus, the batteries are holding a bigger charge now they have been recharged a few times.
