E 500 flash pop-up problem.

I am trying to follow the instructions on p.126 of the instruction manual with regard to disabling the flash pop-up function. However, I can't get to the display shown in the diagram, ie.
AUTO POP UP
DIAL
AEL/AFL
AEL/AFL MEMO
AEL METERING

Initially, when I press MENU it brings up
CARD SETUP
CUSTOM RESET SETTINGS
PICTURE MODE
GRADATION
SYMBOL
I have tried following the instructions, but can't bring up the other screen.
Can someone tell me where I am going wrong, please?

OK, thanks. Problem sorted. I found a link to Steve's Digicam page which had a run-through of the procedure. The manual that comes with the camera is not as explicit as it could be, especially in the case of newcomers like me.
