I took this on Saturday in the back yard. I don't know whether this works or not, but the geometery reminded me of a camera shutter (old style)..

It is a nice shot, but I think you were more taken with the colors than the shapes. This assignment is really all about shapes and how to light them and look at them to emphasize the shape and translate that 3D sense into a 2 dimensional image.

If you convert this to B & W I think you will agree that there is little emphasis on shape.

In fact, I think it would be good to shoot this assignment in B & W if you have difficulty separating the colors from the shapes.

I would give this assignment another go.

This is a nice shot but does not really fulfill the crux of the assignment.

I like this photo Pelewatcher...good job....maybe if you picked the flower so that you could arrange it and concentrated on the Stigma and Stamen then did a B/W conversion. The shape reminds me of a structure I saw in Belgium once.

Gee, Trevor that must have been quite a place. Thanks for the comment.

I am going to try to reshoot this assingment this weekend if the rain will stop. On the other hand there is snow in the forcast so maybe I will go up the mountain. So many choices but so little time. On the other hand my "extended vacation" - starts in two weeks.

Ok, because of rain I had to look back in my files for this one. I took this a few weeks ago with this assignment in mind and then decided that it was not appropriate, but now I think it is.

It took a minute or 2 to orient myself to the shot.

Nice job. Interesting shapes.
