Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows of a lower end, but still decent quality macro lens for this camera? I'm not sure if this even exists. I tried ebay and I'll I've found are cheap ones for $30. Not sure I trust this. I'd really like a macro lens though. Anyone know where I can find one?

The 35mm Macro is a very good lense and at not a bad price for what you get either. I have one that I bought used and I am quite impressed with it.

It is at B& H for $209.00 (they have a used one for 169.00)

Another option is to use an extention tube - EX-25 to shoot macro with some lenses. I use it with the 50-200mm shooting from something like 2 ft out. I know it works with the 40-150mm.
It will not work well with all lenses as it makes the focal length to short (shorter even then the lense hood length).

119.95 @ B& H -

What lenses do you have for the E-500?

Here is a Buy Now on Ebay - Seller has low but good feedback and accepts Paypal

Hi Kim!

Thanks so much for your reply. Right now I'm just using the kit lens.. just the basic one, and as a beginner it suits most of my purposes. I've been playing around with macro a bit and the kit lens doesn't really seem to be the best for that.

I'll be checking out both of the links you posted.

Thank you!

When you say the kit lens... just the basic one I am assuming you are talking the 14-45mm Kit.

If this is the case then the Ex-25 extension tube I referred to would not work well. Focal length would be too short. Subject would almost have to be touching the lens glass to take the picture.
(The Ex-25 would work with the 40-150mm Kit lens though)

You would be satified with the 35mm that B& H has I believe. (Used one is gone now - did you buy it?)

Hi, yes it's the 14-45. Sorry I wasn't at home to look at it and I couldn't remember the exact numbers. But yes, that's the one.

Ok, thank you so much for the good information. I think I'll go for the one through B&H. I checked the ebay link, but it was already sold. Ah well, so it goes.

B & H is a good place to purchase from. I have done it often.

Let us see some macro pictures after you get the 35mm ED Macro

Ahoy!

Have a look at Pentax K-Mount or Olympus OM lenses. Much much cheaper, and with an appropriate adapter (from eBay - cheap enough) you should find it much more cost effective.

Theres a nice 100mm F4 Pentax SMC-A macro on ebay.co.uk at the moment, I'd be tempted to buy it myself but my bank ballance has other ideas. As mentioned with the suitable adaptor it should work well.

I bought the macro lens KimR talked about above and really love it.
Never thought i'd like macro photography, but after getting a couple good
photos with the kit lens i looked into it and thought what the heck.
Here are a couple i've recently taken.
