I have not used the Sony you have. These are a few comments that I have heard from others.
The dxc-707 has a reputation for good pictures right out of the camera. I think it is probably a good one to start out with and esp. if you got it for little of nothing.
Shutter lag might be somewhat of a problem. Not so much now, but when your pup gets to be very active you may notice it.
Experiment, experiment, experiment. ;-) Get out of the Auto Modes and learn. A good place to start is to try Aperture changes and see what happens. Notice the changes in shutter speed. Then move on to Shutter Speed changes and notice Aperture changes, etc.
Understanding Exposure: How to Shoot Great Photographs with a Film or Digital Camera (Updated Edition) by B. Peterson is a pretty good ref. for a beginner I think. Prob about 15.00 at Amazon books or others. |

Thanks, I have been experimenting a little. I have read the book that came with it over and over, but still some stuff I dont get. I have tried changing the aperture and had good results but when I tried changing the shutter speed... not so good... and on manual I totally cant do it.... Ill learn though.
Thanks for the help. |

Here is a link to a gallery with some basics explained in laymans terms. Click on the first picture (The Teeter-Todder) there, then read under it. Scroll to the next one with the Next-Back at the top.
Hope this helps you.
