I wondered what was taking them so long to get a proper M series digital out.

It is quite possible that the Leica M8 is the single most desirable man made object in the universe. Not certain you understand, but quite possible.

Bah, it has a pretty big crop factor (~1.3) and it's only 10 mp. A disappointment at $5k, I think. But the rangefinder forums are all abuzz.

same sensor as the one in the R series digital back then? 10mp and 1.3x crop?

must admit with all their talk of ultra low noise I was hoping it was full frame, but still got to be a nice piece of kit if you happen to have $5K burning a hole in your pocket. oh and a couple of K for some leitz glass of course......so just a small mortgage ought to do it really.
