Ive gotta say even with its flaws the Fuji S3 is a fantastic camera.
If your working in a studio on a budget you cant do better.

I agree 100% especially with the way the price has dropped. I love the color straight out of camera. I use it for weddings also, It is slower but I can deal with it.

I had heard about the speed issue

How does that stack up for a sequence for say the confetti shot, where you're generally firing off in quick succession?

At best you get 1.5fps, so i found, if you decrease the quality it helps a bit but not by far, thats the one and only reason i got a D70s.

The S3 is a fine cam but I would say that it's in Fuji's best interest to pull completely out of the digital market.

Since i seem to have lost the ability to edit posts..

I wouldnt say pull out, their sensors are legendary (do they actually make them?)

And just to clarify, it wasnt the fps that bothered me, it was the fact u shoot approx 8 images and then you have to wait about 30 seconds to shoot again, not good.

The DCM Sept local edition did a S3 Pro V D200 comparison.

Quoting the editor's verdict:'The hard-nosed commercial decision has to be the D200. Its built like a tank, has a great screen and superfast focussing.'

Interestingly enough it added 'However, for pictorial photography S3 Pro is better.'

Finally the editor had this to say, 'Snap this classic up soon before they begin to disappear from your dealer's shelves.

End of day...its users who decide.

In terms of color reproduction and dynamic range I would put the S3 up against anything including many models in much higher price ranges. Fuji has made a commitment to image quality rather than just trying to sell the market on MP's. Any speed concerns were solely a buffer issue and an upgrade was eventually offered. There are plenty more options out there other than Canon or Nikon.

They ceased the upgrade shortly after, in the uk at least :(

I'm sure you will see the reasoning behind that shortly. The upgrade is still available here in the US "While supplies last." It was offered in the UK well before it was offered here.
