A simple text write-up with a photo of the equipment would have been nice.
The three minute flash that gives no information is a little agonizing. |

I know
i guess they're following Nikon's D80 lead with the build up, but I don't reckon it'll have the same impact

I will be anxious to read a hands on review of this new camera. Looks quite interesting. |

Looks real interesting. I wonder if I will have to take oout a second mortgage just to afford it and all the required lenses. |

Since yesterday, you can see more of this new body from dpreview.com and Sigma's website......I believe it will be a hit at the Photokina Show in Cologne. Excited, I called Sigma customer service and they still know practically nothing about this camera...no price or release date to the public until maybe 'winter', the CS lady said.
I was asking about the possibility of lens mounts for our Nikon or Canon lenses....and she said, "of course not...what would that do with our Sigma lenses?"
I said, lady, there are possibly 60 million of us with very expensive lenses already, can you imagine selling 60 million SD 14 bodies? I didn't get any comment. I said, lady check your email....I wrote you about this possibilty before and there are others from other sites agree with me.
Let's start a petition to Sigma if you agree with me. |

I am with you on this one Salvo, however, I have a feeling that Canon would not allow this to happen. Nikon maybe... |

I still fail to understand why Sigma ever went out on their own with the lens mount rather than licencing one of the big name mounts. I can only assume the other companies wanted too much for the rights. They can't seriously believe that many people are going to switch from a Canon, Nikon, Minolta or Pentax system where they have access to camera brand AND several 3rd party lens manufacturors (including most if not all of the Sigma range) when no one but Sigma makes lenses for SAF.
That camera would have to be something really special to make a person limit his/her lens choices so severely. |

Sigma already built a camera with the Canon lens mount, it's was the Kodak DCS 14/c. |

Thanks DCM and Mongoose for letting me know I am not alone. ChrisL. thanks to you too for that FYI. That is very helpful info.
Let's hope Sigma can do the math....and get the smarts. If they believe in their product, all they have to do is pitch it to existing Nikon and Canon owners then they can go to the bank, retire and sell their lenses in Timboktu......lol. |

Guys, did you see the SRP of the SD 14 body? 1099.99 pounds......yum....sounds reasonable for one that can do neat A3 or larger prints.
Chris L. do you know of any company that will sell us a lens mount converter/adaptor? I knew of one such EU company about 8 years ago (before digital SLR's really came about) when I used to sell cameras but I couldn't find them again in the web...can't remember the name either.
THANKS. |
