I'm sure many of you are already familiar with this magazine, but, for the benefit of the newer people, it deserves repeating. I recently discovered Lenswork magazine, and all I can say is that the quality of the photography, the articles and the editorial work is astounding. I'm currently subscribing to the "extended" version of the magazine, which means I am mailed a CD which includes all kinds of multi-media stuff (video, audio...) in addition to a PDF file of the print magazine. Anyway, I hope it's ok to place a plug in this forum. I'm not affiliated in any way. I just think this is a resource worth investigating. Google "lenswork."

I'll second this. I also subscribe to Lenswork Extended, and it is a great publication. I've also bought some of Brooks Jensen's (the editor) prints. His photos are top quality, and he sells the prints for $20 (you can read his philosophy on his website to find out why he sells them so cheap).
Another great magazine is PhotoLife. Since it's published in Canada, it's particularly good for Canadians. |

I went for the extended version, simply because I find myself at the computer when I want to look at or read about photography. Plus the extended version has more content. If you really like having a book to hold in your hand, then the printed mag is probably the way to go. The other factor to consider is that the printed magazine is very high quality, and, so, you are getting excellent representation. I think the photos look fabulous on screen, but I suspect I'm giving up just a bit by not seeing them in print. |
