Assignment #6 will be: "P.O.V. #1, On your belly", that is, Point of View #1, shooting from a very low angle. All shots to be from ground level (Lower than 16").
Also included in this assignment is the decision on vertical vs. horizontal layout. You must look at your shot as both a vertical and as a horizontal and decide which to post.
This assignment can be of anything, so long as you get down low to shoot and you make a reasoned judgement as to vertical or horizontal format.
The default format is horizontal, so if you use the default format be prepared to be questioned on your choice.
Some easy shots would be a small child, dog or cat on the floor; landscape or architectural, or macro shot. All subjects are OK.
Also, keep in mind your depth of field. When you are low, you tend to see a good bit of foreground. Should that be in focus or out of focus? Should there be great depth of field or shallow depth of field?
You should make a mental or actual check list:
1. Low P.O.V.
2. Vertical/Horizontal
3. Depth of field
Clearly by labeling this assignment POV #1, there will be a POV #2. It would be futile to guess what that will be and you should concentrate on this assignment only. |

I am looking forward to this weekend to get a lot of shooting time in, hopefully my results will meet my commanding officers approval. |

I just want to speak up and say thank you Packard. This style of photo assignment forum is exactly what I need.
I intend to try an idea for assignment #5 this evening.
It has to take a lot of your time to do this and I wanted to say I appreciate it.
Thank you. |
