Now that it has curves, other than color space manipulation (rgb, cmyk, etc) what would be the benefit of having CS2 unless you are in the Graphics Arts or Commercial Printing industries? |

Layer masks.
If you have Elements 3 you can get these for free (including curves and channel mixer) but the free plugins do not work in Elements 4 and I'd wager that they kept it so in Elements 5. |

so the best option remains Elements 3 with the free plugins then?
no layer masks = no go IMHO, I'd much rather work around the GIMP's rather idiosyncratic interface than do without them. |
